In NSW there are now approximately 8500 gay men living with HIV and this number has continued to increase over the years.

Most of the HIV positive men in NSW live in inner Sydney. Up to 15% of gay men are HIV positive in some inner metro areas and around 10% of gay men elsewhere in Sydney. Populations of HIV positive gay men also live in regional NSW in areas like the Northern Rivers and Newcastle.
